A Sunset couple session in the Peak District
Peak District wedding photography
Oh, these two! I had an absolute blast with Jason and Darcy on my home turf, the Peak District. After sending them lots of galleries of my favourite spots in the peaks, they decided on The Great Ridge walk on Mam tor.

The location
I love this location because it’s a relatively easy walk, with a huge payoff of the most beautiful hill side overlooking the cutest countryside towns; Castleton and Edale. Mam tor meaning “mother hill” is a great option for couples travelling to the Peak district for their couple session as its easily accessible by car with plenty of parking spots and well paved so doesn’t require hiking skills. Castleton also offers great options for food and drinks, my favourite being the Peak Hotel and lots of b’n’b options if you fancy making a weekend of it, like these two did.
On the day
After chatting about a potential 4am sunrise shoot, we instead decided it would be more enjoyable to meet for a sunset session and I’m so glad we did. After a moody start the clouds parted and we we’re gifted with the most incredible glowing sunset. Another amazing thing about shooting on Mam Tor is the weather changes so quickly, it can be torrential rain one second and bright sunshine the next, which always keeps me on my toes.
Jason and Darcy were absolute naturals in front of the camera and so completely in love. I could have honestly photographed them all day everyday. We had the best time chatting about Scotland, cats and all their wedding plans. They even brought me a non-alcoholic beer, which we enjoyed while sat on the Mam Tor hillside, watching the sunset. I have the bloody best job!
