A Small & Intimate Liverpool Wedding

Lara and Simon absolutely smashed it with their small and intimate wedding day in Liverpool. The day was filled with beautiful venues, gorgeous flowers, and the best food I’ve ever had at a wedding (and maybe in my life—and I am a BIG foodie). A huge shoutout to Belzan, a small intimate venue where they chose to have their wedding breakfast. Everything about the place was incredible and gave the pair the perfect reception.

Prep at The Municipal Hotel

This wedding morning was the perfect relaxed start to the day. Keeping it intimate, Lara chose to get ready herself with the amazing HMUA Zoey. This was such a lovely, chilled way to spend her wedding morning, with bubbles flowing and pampering all around. Being the cool gal she is, Lara went for a gorgeous bold pink eye and lip combo, so different from the usual bridal style and absolutely perfect for her. Her kimono-inspired dress was handmade by Jess, paired with gold Esska shoes, iridescent earrings from Wolf and Moon, and a bright dried flower headband from A Slower Space, who also created the absolutely breathtaking bouquets.

The Municipal Hotel itself was the perfect venue for wedding prep. The room had huge windows that let in all the light, and the hotel bar is unbelievable with its palm trees and marble floors, it’s giving Ibiza vibes.

Ceremony at St George’s Hall

The ceremony took place at the lovely St George’s Hall, in the Sefton Room, which is a great intimate venue for a small wedding party. Again, the room had huge windows that let in loads of light and offered beautiful views over Liverpool.

The ceremony itself was short and very sweet. Lara’s dad and little boy, Po, walked her up the aisle together. There was a reading of one of my favourite poems, “I Wanna Be Yours,” by Simon’s sister, and Po even helped by being the ring bearer. Lara’s lovely mum cried throughout the whole thing. We then headed out for confetti and group shots.

Reception at Belzan

After capturing some couple pictures around St George’s Hall, we jumped in a taxi and headed to Belzan. Known for its amazing atmosphere, Belzan provided a cozy yet elegant setting for the celebration. The couple chose Belzan because it was a significant place for them during their dating days, and they both knew they wanted standout food and wine for their wedding day—Belzan definitely delivered.

The menu was created for the couple and featured lots of sharing plates, allowing everyone to try something new and interact with each other. My favorite had to be the Guinness rarebit potato—it’s worth booking your wedding here for that alone. The staff were another thing that really made the day incredible; they were incredibly warm and attentive, adding to the relaxed and upbeat atmosphere.

Lara and Simon also had two beautiful cakes from Desserts by Dre, a lemon meringue and a cherry bakewell. They had a super sweet cake cutting with all the kids getting involved, excited for the first slice. It was honestly everything you could want from a for a small, intimate wedding day.
