An Outdoor Peak District Tipi Wedding
Alixe and Jodie’s wedding day was absolutely ace! Picking the previews for this one has been such a challenge, because there’s just so much I want to share. Whenever I get an enquiry for a outdoor/tipi/ totally relaxed wedding day, I’m already sold! So when Alixe & Jodie got in touch about their wedding plans in the Peak district – my stomping ground and a place that’s extra special to me – I was mega excited about it. And let me tell you, they did not disappoint.
Bridal prep and St Alban’s R.C Church ceremony
I joined Jodie and her wedding party at her parents home in Macclesfield, just outside of the Peak District. Jodie had the Cheshire Bridal Team on hair and make up, and the most beautiful, delicate, lace dress from Maria Modes. She paired it with a flower crown and bouquet from The Flower House. It was a super chill morning up until Jodie’s wedding car broke down! Meaning she was slightly late for her ceremony, leaving poor Alixe sweating at the front.
The ceremony itself was lovely, with hymms played on gutiar by one of the best men, and two lovely readings, one from Jodie’s brother. After the wedding was the confetti, followed by a quick pic with Grandad, who couldn’t make it to the reception. They were then whisked away, in lucky wedding car number two, a vintage red Jaguar, off to the Peak District.
The outdoor reception at the Roaches in the Peak District
Jodie and Alixe wanted their wedding day to be a relaxed affair and they really put the effort in to make sure their guests had a great time. Jodie’s dad helped build loads of giant lawn games for guests to play, and Jodie set up photo stations so everyone could have a laugh and get loads of pictures from the day. They hired their wedding venue, the gorgeous Naychurch farm in the middle of the Roaches, overlooking the Peak District, from family friends. They hired a tipi from a local company Tipi Unique and filled it with lots of personal touches, including personalised drinks holders and a genius bug spray station.
These two were super fortunate with the weather, which meant their guests could chill outside on the hay bales and take in the stunning views of the Peak District. They even chose to move the speeches outside to get the most out of the gorgeous day in the Peak District.
Unfortunately this pair’s orignal caterers pulled out only a month before the wedding. But with Jodie’s excellent planning skills, she managed to find JW’s Holy Smoke to come and save the day. Their wedding breakfast consisted of a huge BBQ, where guests could go and get food as they pleased and eat out in the sunshine or in the cool tipi. With cakes and brownies by Dolly Daydream for desert.
Smokebombs, sunset and the party in the Peak District
Prior to the wedding, via our whatsapp chat, Alixe told me all about the incredible sunsets at the farm and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. Come 8pm the field was glowing in gorgeous golden hour light, which we absolutely made the most of with some more pictures the two of them. We also gathered the bridal party for what can only be described as a rather chaotic smoke bomb shot, that ended in great results. They then danced the night away in the tipi under the biggest disco ball I’ve ever seen (think Arctic Monkey’s set) with wedding band Skylight.
Thank you Alixe & Jodie for asking me to capture your brilliant day. It was so much fun to be a part of. Here are a few of my favourites from the day!
